The Royal Hill of Ambohimanga is the most significant spiritual site in Madagascar and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hilltop was the original seat of the Merina monarchy and remains the most sacred place in Malagasy culture. The site includes royal palaces, tombs of the Merina kings, and sacred stones where ancestral spirits are believed to dwell. Many Malagasy still make pilgrimages to Ambohimanga to seek blessings from the ancestors, and the site embodies the concept of hasina (sacred life force).
