Lalish is the holiest site of the Yazidi religion, located in a secluded valley in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The temple complex features distinctive conical fluted spires and is centered on the tomb of Sheikh Adi ibn Musafir, a 12th-century mystic revered by Yazidis. Every Yazidi is expected to make a pilgrimage to Lalish at least once in their lifetime. The site features sacred springs used in baptism rituals and groves of ancient olive trees considered sacred.
