Czech Republic
About This Sacred Site
The Loreta is a large Baroque pilgrimage destination in the Hradčany district of Prague, constructed between 1626 and 1750. At its heart is a replica of the Santa Casa — the Holy House of Nazareth — inspired by the Italian original at Loreto. The complex includes a cloister, the Church of the Nativity, and a treasury housing the famous Prague Sun monstrance, studded with 6,222 diamonds. Its carillon of 27 bells chimes a Marian melody every hour.
