Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (the Monastery of the Caves) is a historic Orthodox Christian monastery founded in 1051, sprawling across hills above the Dnieper River. The complex includes gold-domed cathedrals, bell towers, and monastic buildings, and it served as one of the foremost centers of Eastern Orthodox Christianity for nearly a millennium.
