The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit is the main Orthodox church in Minsk and the seat of the Belarusian Exarchate. Originally built as a Catholic convent in 1633-1642, it was converted to Orthodoxy in 1860. The cathedral houses the revered Minsk Icon of the Theotokos, believed to have been painted by the Apostle Luke and miraculously found in the Svisloch River.
