The Cathedral of Christ's Nativity is the principal Orthodox cathedral in Chișinău, originally built between 1830 and 1836 in neoclassical style by architect Avraam Melnikov. After independence in 1991, the cathedral was restored to worship and the bell tower rebuilt, symbolizing Moldova's spiritual renewal.
