The Blood River / Ncome heritage site in KwaZulu-Natal marks the location of the 1838 Battle of Blood River between Voortrekker Boers and the Zulu Kingdom. Before the battle, the Voortrekkers made a vow to God that if granted victory, they would honor the day forever. The site is sacred to Afrikaner Christians who see the victory as divine intervention, while the Ncome Museum on the opposite bank presents the Zulu perspective.
