Betty's Hope was one of the first large-scale sugar plantations in Antigua, established in 1651 by the Codrington family. The plantation chapel served both the planters and the enslaved community, becoming a place where African spiritual traditions blended with Christianity. Today the ruins are preserved as an open-air museum and a site of deep ancestral significance for the people of Antigua and Barbuda.
