About This Sacred Site
The Cathedral of St Florin in Vaduz is the principal church of the Principality of Liechtenstein and the seat of the Archdiocese of Vaduz. Built in 1874 in neo-Gothic style by Friedrich von Schmidt, the architect of Vienna's Rathaus, the cathedral was elevated to its current status in 1997 when the archdiocese was established. Situated below Vaduz Castle, it serves as the spiritual centre for Liechtenstein's predominantly Catholic population of approximately 39,000 people.
