The Taizé Community is an ecumenical Christian monastic community in Burgundy, founded in 1940 by Brother Roger Schutz. It is one of the world's most important sites of Christian pilgrimage, particularly for young people, with over 100,000 visitors from around the world gathering each year for week-long meetings of prayer, song, and reflection. The community's distinctive chanted prayers, known as Taizé chants, have become a global phenomenon used in churches of all denominations.
