Olduvai Gorge (Oldupai Gorge) is a steep-sided ravine in the Great Rift Valley of Tanzania, renowned as one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. Excavations by Louis and Mary Leakey uncovered some of the earliest evidence of human ancestors, dating back nearly 2 million years.
