Horezu Monastery, founded in 1690 by Wallachian prince Constantin Brâncoveanu, is the finest example of the Brâncovenesc architectural style — a unique Romanian synthesis of Renaissance, Baroque, Byzantine, and Ottoman elements. Located in the Vâlcea region, the monastery complex includes the main church, a hospital, a hermitage, and extensive gardens. Its interior frescoes, carved by painter Constantinos, are among the most accomplished in Romanian art.
