Faisal Mosque in Islamabad is the national mosque of Pakistan and was the largest mosque in the world from 1986 to 1993. Designed by Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay, the mosque departs from traditional domed architecture with a contemporary tent-like design inspired by a Bedouin tent, flanked by four slender minarets. Nestled against the dramatic Margalla Hills, the mosque can accommodate over 100,000 worshippers and serves as the spiritual heart of Pakistan's capital city.
