Netherlands
About This Sacred Site
The Dom Tower of Utrecht is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands at 112.5 meters and the most prominent landmark of the city. Built between 1321 and 1382 in the Gothic style, it originally served as the bell tower of the Cathedral of St. Martin. A tornado in 1674 destroyed the cathedral's nave, leaving the tower standing alone β it has remained detached from the choir ever since.
