Ajloun Castle (Qal'at ar-Rabad) is a 12th-century Muslim castle in northern Jordan, built by the Ayyubid general Usama ibn Munqidh in 1184 CE. Constructed on the orders of Saladin's nephew to counter Crusader expansion, the fortress contains a mosque used by its garrison. The castle controlled iron mines and trade routes between Jordan and Syria. Set among lush green hills, it offers panoramic views of the Jordan Valley and remains an important symbol of Islamic military architecture.
