🏯 Longshan Temple (Taipei)
Taiwan
About This Sacred Site
Longshan Temple (Lungshan Temple) in Taipei's Wanhua district is one of Taiwan's most popular and historically significant temples. Founded in 1738 by settlers from Fujian province, the temple is dedicated to the Buddhist bodhisattva Guanyin but also houses shrines to Taoist deities and folk gods, reflecting Taiwan's syncretic religious tradition. The temple has been rebuilt multiple times after earthquakes and war damage, including Allied bombing in 1945. It remains a vibrant center of worship where devotees practice traditional divination, burn incense, and seek blessings.
