🏛️ Delphi (Sanctuary of Apollo)
Greece
About This Sacred Site
Delphi was the most important oracle site in the ancient Greek world, regarded as the center (omphalos, or navel) of the Earth. For over a thousand years, the Pythia — the priestess of Apollo — delivered prophecies that influenced major political and military decisions across the Mediterranean. The sacred precinct includes the Temple of Apollo, the ancient theater, the Tholos, and the stadium where the Pythian Games were held. Nestled on the slopes of Mount Parnassus with sweeping views of the valley below, the site retains a powerful atmosphere of ancient sanctity.
